Celebrating the modernity of African art and artists worldwide. Amazing artists from that continent create pieces and performance that are overlooked and ignored by the rest of the world, which is more comfortable minimizing Africans' culture by calling everything there "tribal", and of some past "golden Age".
Why not celebrate Africa as the birthplace of more ethnicities than we can imagine, and seek to know her active artists whose visions challenge our concept of the "dark continent". Artists as much at home at the Whitney, Getty and Pompidou as in Dakar or Daar-es-Salaam.
